COMING SOON: THE ACTUAL AUDIO FILE FOR THE AWARDS CEREMONY

AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF EXCELLENCE
The highest, most prestigious honor of the year goes to Jason LaPlant, who won this category by an impressive margin over runner-up Cooney.  Jason may have won this award because of his popularity among all site visitors: DSU friends, Valleyfair friends, and even family members.  Regardless, Jason's tireless efforts in 2005 earned him bragging right for a year.  Highlights from Jason in 2005 include his food critic column in the Trojan Times, his amazing drinking streak to close out the spring in Madison, a promotion to supervisor at Valleyfair, and his ability to dress like a woman, as displayed during the apartment Rocky Horror party.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Cooney   3rd - (tie) Liz Burke & Jeff LaPlant

BOSS OF THE YEAR
Valleyfair's Ron Hubner, manager of Games and Merchandise, was the runaway winner in the Boss of the Year category.  Ron, loved by all Games employees, has been a mainstay at Valleyfair since 1980 when he began as a parking lot attendant.  Highlights from the summer with Ron included him teasing Jeff about his moustache, praising Cooney for his microphone-handling skills, and calling me from his home to inform me of the devastating Torii Hunter injury.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Matt Thompson   3rd - John Laflin

COMEBACK PERSON OF THE YEAR
In what was the tightest of all races, current roommate Jon Mueller eeked out a victory for the best comeback of the year.  In 2002 and 2003, Jon was a familiar face on fourth floor Richardson Hall.  But when his brother Rick got a house in town, Jon was quick to leave the dorms and was rarely seen again in '04.  In 2005, Jon not only had a class with me in the spring, but he also became my next-door neighbor when I moved into the same house as him.  He truly has come back.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Hunter Hubner & Derrick Geiszler   4th - Jesse Van Heukelom
OUTSTANDING CONSUMER OF ALCOHOL
In the only category that was a total blowout, Jason LaPlant earned himself an award that he won't soon forget--that is, if he remembers it.  Jason consumed a lot of wine, alcohol, and other spirits in 2005.  His impressive run of getting drunk 20 consecutive nights in the spring was a feat few others could achieve.  As if that wasn't impressive enough, Jason did this all while working at McDonald's.  What a year it was for Jason!
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Craig Kargilynan  3rd - Patrick Lynch
MOST MISSED PERSON OF THE YEAR
Who was that one person that you wanted to see every day but couldn't, for whatever reason?  As a whole, it appeared it was none other than former Valleyfair warehouseman Joe Allen of Burnsville, Minnesota.  Joe moved to Virginia for the summer to do an internship in the field of pharmacy, which he is studying at Jamestown College.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Kayla Laursen   3rd - Travis Boultan
FAMILY MEMBER OF THE YEAR
2-year old niece Peyton Krogman was the best of the family members this year.  What did she do that was so special, you ask?  Well, for starters, her traffic record was flawless, she didn't miss a day of work, she stayed clear of drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes, she was never heard swearing, and she still managed to learn to talk.  It was quite the year, and a well-deserved victory.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Marcie Glanzer   3rd - Jordan Krogman
DSU PROFESSOR/ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR
For the second time in three years, Tom Jones captured the award for Outstanding Professor.  I took Graphic Effects II with Jones, and received an A for my outstanding efforts using Director.  In the fall, he was there to fix my computer yet again, a task he accomplished twice before in my collegiate career.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Douglas Knowlton, President   3rd - Brad Hesser
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
In 2004, the name Amanda Geditz would have meant nothing to me.  But after meeting while playing softball in April this year, Amanda and I really hit it off.  So much so, in fact, that it earned her the 2005 Rookie of the Year.  Amanda and I dated for six months.  The most impressive part was that I was in Minneapolis for the summer, and she was in Madison.  But seven long trips from Madison to the Cities by Amanda kept us together.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Igor Cyran   3rd - Andrew Meyer
ROOMMATE OF THE YEAR
In somewhat of a surprise, Jeff LaPlant edged out Chris Ahrendt by a single vote to win Roommate of the Year.  While Jason dominated for Outstanding Achievements, the voters must have given Jeff their sympathy votes and named him best roommate.  To be technical, Jeff was my only roommate.  We actually lived in the same room during the summer.  The others candidates were merely housemates.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Chris Ahrendt   3rd - Phil Huddleston
OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTOR TO RYANGLANZER.COM
Many friends and family members contributed to the site this year, taking some of the load off of me.  No one contributed quite as much as my mother, Marcie Glanzer, named by the fans as the Outstanding Contributor.  Mom's column, which I dubbed "Mail Lady Delivers," entertained fans everywhere, as she discussed her life as a child, her mothering of me, and foolish advertisements.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Derrick Geiszler   3rd - Kyle Henning/Cooney
VALLEYFAIR SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR
He was supervisor for less than a month, but it was enough, apparently, to earn Jason LaPlant Games Supervisor of the Year.  Jason was promoted at the end of the summer when other supervisors were leaving for college.  Excluding myself from the competition, it was a tight race between the others--Lucas Brun, Krista Sullivan, Mike Meyer, Steph Volberding, and Dan Schreck.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Krista Sullivan   3rd - Dan Schreck
FORMER WILLOW LAKE CLASSMATE OF THE YEAR
Talk about doing nothing and receiving an award for it... Guy LaMont, one of my best friends from back home, was seen once the entire year, and still earned an award.  Of course, that was still more than most others did, as I saw very little of anyone from the Class of '01 this year.  Guy was seen briefly at the wedding of fellow former classmates Jesse and Kathy Van Heukelom.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Kathy Van Heukelom   3rd - Kyla Madsen
MOST ATTRACTIVE PERSON OF THE YEAR
In the toughest of categories to win, DSU friend Brad Feeney edged out Valleyfair's Tiffany Hanson to earn the title of Most Attractive.  Feeney's good looks were listed by seven people in this write-in category.  Surprisingly, Jason and Jeff LaPlant received three votes apiece strictly for their cross-dressing.
RUNNERS-UP: 2nd - Tiffany Hanson   3rd - Jason & Jeff LaPlant as women
