Finals Week Different than Semesters Before
Over the course of my first six semesters at DSU, the easiest week every
semester was finals week. I almost never have had final tests, and if I have,
I've had the option of not taking it and substituting an average or something
for that test score. This year isn't quite the same, as I still am working hard
on Graphic Effects and need to get going on these final drawings. Four hours of
work on the Effects project Sunday night put me pretty close to done. I'd say I
have only a few more hours worth of work to put into it. Still, finals week is
way more laid back than most other weeks out of the year. Who knows, I may be
able to get a chance to update my website a little more this week. I have heard
many a complaint about the lack of activity here on the site, but there was just
no way I could keep up with it lately.
Plans for Summer '05 Still Very Unclear
I keep going back and forth on what I plan to do next summer. My most important
thing is to get that internship done with, and there have been various ideas
thrown about. I have had Uncle Brian in DC looking for possible internships.
I've asked various businesses if they need a website built. Patrick Lynch seems
fairly confident there would be something in the Twin Cities, possibly at Jessen
Press where I could work. But then there's the very intriguing developments with
Major League Baseball. I first e-mailed Mark Sheldon from twins.mlb.com, who
forwarded my information on to Jim Banks, the editor of mlb.com. He has now
forwarded my information on to others within mlb.com, and I just today got an
e-mail from Geoff Grant, the managing editor over there. I wasn't ever really
holding out much hope for the baseball internship, but it seems to keep on
moving forward. If that falls through and I am able to fulfill my internship
just by building a website for Dick's Garage or something like that, then I will
most likely go back to the Twin Cities for a fourth summer at Valleyfair. There
are still five months to worry about all that, though.
Jason Has Me Banned
I suppose it's my fault, but ryanglanzer.com is no longer available to certain
audiences, particularly Carol Irvin out at Calvin College in Michigan.
Apparently, Jason's guestbook entry a few days ago contained so many expletive
words that Calvin College has the site blocked since it now qualifies as a
pornographic site. But I was the one who angered Jason with a Daily Log article
about a scuffle here at the house, so Jason isn't completely to blame. To follow
up on that argument we had about proper use of the English language, I was
proven correct by professors John Laflin and Jim Swanson. Chris sarcastically
congratulated me, telling me I deserved the win for carrying on with the
argument and taking it to the College of Arts and Sciences to prove a
meaningless point. I may have won that round, but Chris answered back by
defeating me 3 games to 2 in racquetball that afternoon in another household
battle.
Well that's all for today. I have lots of work to get started on. One
other thing to note: I saw the movie "Citizen Ruth" last night and thought it
was very funny.
