Exclusive Interview: Alex Glanzer

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

1. Hello Alex, how are you today?
Overall I'm okay, but I'm pretty damn busy.

2. How is the fall semester shaping up?
Well, so far so good. I've only got about 1 month left of my composition and entrepreneurship classes, so that makes me happy. As I'm sure you're well aware, I am in the Jazz Band and Concert Band, and both are going swimmingly. And of course Auto Body is going fine. All in all I'd say it's shaping up to be another good semester.

3. What are the best and worst things about living in Wahpeton?
The best thing about living in Wahpeton would have to be Beyond's China Buffet. My god that place makes some good Chinese food. The worst thing would have to waking up at 6:30am to make it to class everyday.

4. Your wedding date has been moved up to May. Are you getting cold feet?
No, not really. As long as all the planning goes well, I don't think I have anything to worry about.

5. Just in general, are you getting cold feet? Because mine are kind of warm.
No, mine are also a little on the warm side.

6. Where do you and Ann plan to reside once you get married?
Well, the current plan is to move to Vermillion, where Ann will finish college. After that I don't know. I would assume somewhere within a 60 mile radius of home.

7. Who will make up your groomsman section?
Well, I think you (Ryan), Aaron Poppen, and Brock Madsen.

8. If I was permitted to make one important decision regarding the wedding, what would it be?
You're planning the bachelor party. What could be more important than that?

9. What are your thoughts on your sister announcing her third pregnancy?
Well, I can't say that I saw it coming, but it sure didn't surprise me much. I'm assuming the pregnancy was planned since the spacing between children is so even. I'm betting against a lot of people here, but I'm gonna say that it's another girl.

10. How much of an improvement would you say the new Glanzer house is compared to the old house?
Well, it's a pretty huge improvement. I can hardly tell when the wind blows now. In the old house it felt like my room was going to detach from the rest of the house and just float away, kind of like Wizard of Oz.

11. What were your feelings towards Carpenter Bash IV?
I felt that everyone had a good time. Some people are already planning their return to the bash next year.

12. How did you celebrate this year's Halloween festivities?
I sat at home. My original plan was to go trick or treating as Mario and Luigi (I was going to be Mario and Alex Marohl was going to be Luigi). We were growing out our beards for a while and then we were gonna shave off everything but the mustache. It would've been funny, but as luck would have it, we both had fieldwork going on this last week and were unable to do any trick or treating.

13. If there's one thing you can honestly say you've learned from me, what would it be?
Hmm...I suppose you taught me how to use frontpage. I probably would've figured it out eventually, but I'll give you that.

14. How is the decal business?
Better at times than others. One week I sold a couple hundred dollars worth of decals, but since then it's been a little bit slow. I opened an ebay store in order to keep listing fees down, and my sales have decreased as a result. I'm still trying to get my store out there so I get more traffic. It's ebay store name is: "Glanzer Graphics and Decals". It currently features all automotive decals, although I will soon be adding some seasonal and house decals as well.

15. Do you work anywhere else besides your own business?
I applied for a few jobs, but due to my full schedule of classes I can only work from 6:00-11:00pm. The only places that are available are restaurants and walmart, and as I stated before, Wal Mart never called me. I think I might have an auto detailing job lined up after Christmas though, so hopefully that'll work out.

16. What were your thoughts on the World Series?
Gay. You're spot on with the ridiculous Boston sports teams. It honestly wouldn't bother me to see the Celtics win some games, but that's just because they've been bad for a long time. The damn Patriots are infuriating. Does that answer your question? No, no it doesn't.

17. What was your reaction after seeing "Into the Wild" and not catching a glimpse of Ann in the background as expected?
Well, I certainly didn't expect to see Ann in the movie, althought there's always the deleted scenes. I was a little dissapointed though. It would've been pretty cool to actually see her in a movie. Maybe she should've volunteered to do a nude scene or something.

18. Have you considered starting your old blog back up? The public finds stuff like that interesting.
I honestly haven't. I just don't think anybody would find my life interesting, and even if they did, I wouldn't have much to write about.

19. How badly do you miss Willow Lake School, a year and a half after graduation?
Not at all. Not at all. I stopped last week on my way up to Wahpeton to talk to Mr. Ehrke, but that's the first time since I've graduated that I've been back.

20. If you skinned your knee really bad, what would be the first words out of your mouth?
"SHIT!!!" Followed by the Peter Griffin signature "ahhhhh", "sucking air through a straw sound", and more "ahhh"

21. Do you have any preferences for presidential candidates in the upcoming election?
No. Ann is all for Obama. I really don't care one way or another, although I thought Bill Clinton did just fine when he was in office. Maybe if Hillary wins, Bill will more or less run things again. Probably not, but there's always that chance.

22. Have you ever seen the show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"? If not, I'm telling you now to tune in this Thursday at 9pm on FX. Funniest show on TV, hands down.
I have not seen this show.

23. Do you ever just wake up in a bad mood and find yourself snapping at people for no reason?
I don't ever wake up mad, but if I'm mad there's usually a reason for it.

24. What are some good ideas for your bachelor party, seeing how you will still be a minor at that point in time?
I'm sure whatever you come up with will be better than what I would come up with. I would suggest having it sooner than the night before the wedding as I'm sure there'll be more than enough alcohol consumed, but it's entirely up to you.

25. Thank you for joining us today Alex. Any closing remarks?
I think the light blue Glacial Freeze gatorade is delicious. By far the best gatorade on the market right now. I also read an article in the Diesel Power magazine where they compared a new 6.6 L Duramax to a new 6.0L Chevy. Very interesting comparison. I did not expect the final result to be what it was. Check it out.
