Bradley Feeney: Exclusive Interview

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Since 2004, Bradley Feeney and I have spent many a good time together.  There was the infamous Academy Awards drinking contest at Feeney's apartment.  We had our spring break escapade to visit Liz Burke in Detroit and then scooted up to Toronto and Niagara Falls.  Then there was Carpenter Bash II, when Feeney learned the ways of the farm.  Our days at DSU were rivaled only by our present days of living in the Twin Cities.  By now, you're probably dying to know the man behind the beard.  Let's meet Bradley Feeney.

1. Hello Mr. Feeney, how are you today?
Today (June 25) I am 26 years old and I feel every second of it. This weekend was a long eventful one.

2. Tell us about your job here in the Twin Cities. Is it everything you went to college for?
In short, I provide customer support for an E-mail network appliance. The main purpose of the device is to stop spam. I did go to school for Information Assurance (information security). This job is definitely more technical & hands-on than what I pictured. I am learning new things everyday which is always a plus.

3. How would you describe your living arrangement with Chris Walsh?
Taunt, thrilling, & suspenseful! It has worked well. We essentially have a floor in between us so music or snoring has not been an issue. In addition, Walshy is gone for many days at a time (for work) which keeps the relationship fresh. The best part is playing, ‘Where’s the smell?’

4. You recently grew a beard. How are you enjoying it? And will it stay around or is it just a trial thing?
I am enjoying it and am going to keep it around for a while. It will probably be staying around long enough to see how the winter treats it.

5. Do you have any awesome plans for the summer?
The only plans I have are to go back to the Fort around the 4th of July. Without a doubt this summer has been pretty sweet without too much planning. Another camping trip has been discussed, a number of people have expressed interest in Apple River, only GoD truly knows what will happen.

6. If you had to give up booze or cigarettes for a month, what would it be?
For Marcie, Cigarettes :)

7. How would you rate our recent camping excursion?
Other than my misplaced glasses & anger it was 9 out of 10. I did not expect to shoot hoops (basketball) which is always a plus. In addition, the scenery down the river was fabulous.

8. It's been over two years since our spring break trip to Detroit and Toronto. What will you best remember about those eight days on the road?
The last night in Indiana...I was falling asleep and with peer pressure applied by all four of you I woke up and joined the fun. Many memories & disturbing photos were created that night.

9. I couldn't help but notice you had seven full seasons of an anime series downloaded. I never would have taken you for an anime guy. What's the deal with that?
I like to have a TV on when falling asleep. 99.9% of the time it was tuned into Family Guy or Futurama. Adult Swim always changes their nightly schedule so Inuyasha was on for roughly a two-month period during my prime beddy-bye time. I am a creature of habit so instead of changing the channel I became engrossed by Inuyasha. After growing tired of commercials (and being a computer literate individual) I downloaded all 167 episodes & four movies.

Essentially these are male-approved animated soap operas.

10. What does a typical Twin Cities weekend consist of for you?
A typical weekend around the town includes little planning, many

phone calls, cocktails, and laundry. All that and add a twinge of guilt that more productive activities could have been performed.

11. Are you happy to have left Madison behind or do you often miss our old college town?
I am very happy to be here. Do not get me wrong Madison (South Dakota) was good to me. I think I could be happy anywhere as long as there is Air Conditioning. What I often miss about Madison are the great friends located there and the surrounding areas.

12. What is a good story involving you at a lake?
Innyskay ippingday with 3 young (18 & over) and attractive females. Not all that ‘good’ of a story but the only interesting story involving myself and an akelay.

13. Are there any young ladies in your life these days? Or young men? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I am single and rolling with it. Cliché time: Anything can happen, don’t force it, if it is meant to be it will be, do not go swimming for an hour after eating…

14. Who will be the next president of the US, and which of your friends has the most realistic chance of one day running for president?
John McCain.
The candidate I was speaking of this weekend was Ron Paul - http://www.ronpaul2008.com/
As for my friends that is tough one. Because of the general atmosphere & what is important in Politics today I would have to say Eric Saugstad is my only friend/acquaintance to fit the bill.

15. Do people ever tell you that you look like a celebrity?
With my facial hair, I was compared to Steve Carrell by none other than Ryan Glanzer. Freshman year @ DSU (much skinnier) I was called the ‘Native American Ricky Martin,’ by Greg Geiszler, older brother of Derrick G. Lastly, the picture of you & I in the Yale bar (that you took Carpenter Bash II), I was told I look like Johnny Knoxville…which I don’t see it.

16. What are the top three movies known to man?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Crash
Se7en
Honorable mention: The United States of Leland

17. What is the fastest you've ever driven?
In the old Buick Regal Gran Sport I got over 125 mph, slightly downhill road helped J

18. If I asked you to help me film a new music video, what song would we perform?
Take on Me by A-ha

19. What is the most expensive meal you've ever eaten?
Most expensive would have been sushi with my xgf’s father, I never saw the exact dollar amount. We started with a sea-weed salad (unexpectedly tasty). Then he ordered two large platters with 6 different types of sushi on each platter. With amenities tacked on to the platters’ base price the bill had to top $150 for the two of us.

20. Well thank you for joining us today, Mr. Feeney. Any closing remarks?
The Loop’s theme song is "Hockey Monkey" by James Kochalka Superstar and the Zambonis. Check it out.

Ryan Trivia: Has consistently weighed in between 261 and 265 for the last six months.
