How
are you today Jordan?
I am sick, Ryan. Very sick. Both the girls have had pink eye and ear
infections. Emerson has bronchitis and Peyton just had a penicillin shot
yesterday for her nasty sore throat, which then caused her to run a very
high fever. I knew it would all catch up to me. Thanks for asking,
though.
What has been the highlight of your semester at USD so far?
Nothing much has happened this semester. I suppose the highlight would
be when I started my clinical at the Vermillion Care Center. I get to
practice being a nurse.
What do Peyton and Emerson do all day when you and Calvin are at
class?
We’re not in class “all day”. We drop them off at daycare at 7:30.
Peyton has preschool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On the days where
she doesn’t have preschool, I suppose she does a craft, plays outside,
and watches a movie. I have heard that Emerson spends her days by
crawling around on the floor, taking all the socks off of the other
babies. We pick them up around 1:45, and then we all go home together.
Does it seem strange to think that you and Calvin have now been
married for three years?
No, it actually seems like we’ve been married longer. And I don’t mean
that in a bad way (really, I don’t). We’ve just had a lot happen in
those three years!
Aside from Alese, I don't know any of your college friends. Who are
some others we should know about?
Well, I have made two wonderful friends since entering the nursing
program. Lindsey has a 16-month-old daughter named Hannah, and we’ve met
up with her o n a few occasions to play at the park or at the pool. I met
Melissa in my Microbiology class last year. She is a pre-dental hygiene
major and has a daughter named Belle who is the same age as Peyton.
We’ve also arranged playdates. Her dad is a dentist here in Vermillion.
Another of my friends is Brandi, who doesn’t have any children. . . at
least not that I know of. :O) I’m also friends with another Lindsay, who
I don’t see very much of these days. And then there’s cousin Katie, who
I see every other day in Chem 106!
What is your timetable for finishing this nursing program?
Well, after this fall semester is finished I will have 3 more
semesters left to complete. Those will include increasingly more
clinical time and increasingly less class time. After I am finished with
my Chemistry class this semester, I will be finished with all of my
prerequisites, so I won’t have to take any other nonsense.
Do you feel superior to others knowing that you perhaps live the
closest of anyone in South Dakota to a domed sports stadium, the
DakotaDome?
You know, I’ve never even been to a football or basketball game before,
and I’ve only ever once used their swimming pool. I don’t appreciate the
dome as much as I should, I guess.
What are your thoughts on the Twins chances in the playoffs that
begin this week?
Well, I don’t know a damned thing about baseball, so I would say they
have as good a chance as any.
What was your reaction to seeing Peyton and Emerson's pictures on
that WaterShield CD I sent to 10,000 people?
I was overwhelmed with pride. Even though the picture was very small, it
was still nice to see their faces and know that people across the
country would be seeing them, too.
Would you like to take a stab at my job for a day?
I would suck at your job. I know how to use Photoshop, but I have no
knowledge of designing things for the internet. It would be nice to be
able to go home at the end of the day and relax, though. That’s not
something that ever happens around here.
What are your thoughts on Alex's recent engagement?
I was very excited to hear his news. I figured that he and Ann would get
married eventually, but of course I didn’t know when. I think Ann will
make a fine Glanzer!
Are you currently experiencing any pain?
Yes, see my comments in the opening paragraph.
What is the next meal you're going to prepare?
Well, my culinary expertise isn’t anything to be bragged about. I
usually make simple things that include some sort of chicken. Maybe
we’ll have chicken. . .
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to live with Nick Sandbulte?
It has long been a fantasy of mine to live with Mr Sandbulte. I can
imagine our lives together would be filled with awkward silences and
quiet evenings in front of our computers.

What is the most effective advertisement of any sort that you have
seen lately?
The “Safe Happens” commercials where people are driving along in their
cars talking, and all of a sudden they’re in a high-impact car accident.
I really don’t “enjoy” the commercials, per se, but they sure get the
message across. Are they for Volvo??
You live so close to the Nebraska border. How often do you cross it?
Maybe 4 or 5 times a year. Sometimes we drive through Nebraska en route
to Roger and Anita’s house.
Who is one celebrity you are sick of hearing about?
Terrell Owens. We all know that I pay little to no attention to sports,
so when I hear of a sports figure on a daily basis, he’s getting too
much publicity. In my opinion, the man is very narcissistic and just
needs to get over himself. How did you learn to tie your shoes?
I don’t remember. I suppose Mommy taught me.
When is the last time you screamed?
This morning I was trying to sleep in (ha!!) and Calvin brought the
girls up to tickle me. Peyton got me pretty good, and I screamed.
Describe your first meeting with Calvin Krogman.
Ah, Calvin was quite the Casanova, if I recall correctly. I was
attending Girls’ State at USD, and became friends with a girl named
Jaime Lyon. She, coincidentally, was from White River, South Dakota.
That afternoon as we were walking through a building, I spied a handsome
young fellow trying to act cool as the 500+ girls strutted by. I nudged
my friend, and she said “He goes to school with me.” I persuaded her to
introduce us, and the rest is history. I later learned that while we
were talking, Calvin was looking at my chest through my button-down
shirt, which was gaping slightly. He doesn’t deny this fact.
Where do you think Peyton will graduate high school?
It’s hard to say. We very well may end up staying in Vermillion,
especially if Calvin gets a job working here. If not, I would like to
relocate to Volga or Arlington. Any of those would be a possibility.
What is one tip you can give me on calming down rowdy kids?
Just start screaming and growling at them. Eventually they’ll realize
that you’re seconds away from a nervous breakdown (yes, I believe they
are perceptive of this fact) and they will settle down.
Are you ever upset when you visit ryanglanzer.com and there are no
new updates?
No. I understand that you’re a busy fellow and you probably have better
things to do than please your adoring fans every day.
If I told you a TV show was really good and you should watch it, what
are the odds you would do it?
Slim to none. Even when there’s a show on that I love and really want to
watch, I usually have to give up my t.v. to Gerald Mc Boing Boing or
Curious George. Or else I talk myself into studying instead.
How tall are you?
I am 5 feet 10 inches.
Do you think either Peyton or Emerson will be taller than you at the
age of 21?
Yes, I think there’s a good chance that they both will be. They’re both
very tall for their ages.
What is the most disturbing photo you've ever seen on ryanglanzer.com?
There have been some pictures of Jeff and Jason that have certainly made
me do a double-take. But, I have to say, Jason has been looking very
nice in some of his most recent photos. Could it be, perhaps, the new
shirts from Kohl’s that he’s sporting that makes the difference?
Tell Peyton that I say hi and then tell me her reaction.
She turned around, and then started whining that “I need my necklace so
I can go ride Spaghetti, Mommy”. (her horse)
What would your reaction be if you woke up and Dad was passed out on
your couch in Vermillion?
I would be alarmed, and wonder what could have possibly happened that
would bring him all the way here in the middle of the night? And then I
would wonder how he got inside, since the doors are locked and he
doesn’t have a key.
Thanks for your time today. Any closing remarks?
Well, I have a closing inquiry. Are you and this Sarah Vick a “couple”?
You seem to mention her often in your daily logs and I’ve seen her
represented quite a bit in your pictures. Fess up.
