1. Howdy Ryan! How are you today?
Hey Lauren and whoever may be reading! Today has been a good
day mostly, though I had this weird feeling all day that
something bad had happened last night amidst our partying. There
was this big gray area that I blocked out between 1am and
3:30am. I did, however, purchase a bicycle and our ride downtown
was very nice.
2. As I write this, we're sitting next to each other on the
couch watching the Twins play in Kansas City. What are you doing
now?
Well, the Twins hung on for 7-3 win and moved into first
place, a half-game ahead of the White Sox. You insisted we watch
Batman Begins, and after only 45 minutes I passed out on the
couch. But you just woke me up to start answering questions.
3. We're known (at least between ourselves) for silly
nicknames, like 'angel nugget' and 'darling pants'. Did you call
your previous girlfriends by odd pet names, or is that something
that is unique to our relationship?
It's tough to remember. I think it really depended on the
person. The only other relationship that lasted any significant
amount of time was with a girl who was very angry most of the
time and I really had to watch what I called her. If I called
her "angel nugget" she would be offended, thinking that it meant
she was fat or something.
4. On Friday night you suggested ordering a pizza, and then
you ate FIVE PIECES! Is your hatred of cheese fading into the
past?
To be honest I'm just getting lazy. It takes a whole lot of
energy to keep refusing something so common as cheese. Since you
are one of the few people who doesn't make a big deal out of it
and accepts that I don't like it, I am not so against giving in
every once in a while. I did suggest we order pizza, but I was
hoping it would be that really good honey mustard chicken kind
we got at work once that had no cheese on it.
5. We have a cabbage, three squash, turnips, broccoli, green
beans, several HUGE cucumbers, onions, green pepper and collared
greens from our half of this week's CSA (Community Supported
Agriculture) delivery. That's a lot of veggies! Do you think
we'll be able to eat all of them before they spoil?
Absolutely not! I am all for us getting healthy vegetables
on a weekly basis, but it's just too much. I feel bad that a lot
of perfectly good veggies keep getting thrown out. We should
really try to use a lot of this week's batch in a stew of some
sort!
6. What do you think your next career move will be? You're
incredibly talented, but lately you've expressed some desire to
switch job paths.
I have an idea to form my own DJ business in 2009. I'll need
to get a small business loan to buy the startup equipment, but
it should pay for itself after just a few shows. Working for
this current DJ company is fine, but I realize I can make way
more money doing it on my own. That likely would not be a
full-time job right away, but it would be nice to see it blossom
into one over time.
7. Why are you so cute?
I was born with a great deal of cuteness. I won a beautiful
baby contest in 1982 or 1983, and it's just taken off from
there. There were some lean years, though, in the late 90s where
horrible acne temporarily ridded me of my cuteness, but I
persevered.
8. Between you, Jason LaPlant, and Travis Bolton, who would
win a neck-beard growing contest?
Not me. While I could put the Sandbultes and Lynches of the
world to shame, Jason and Travis both have great hair-growing
abilities. I think if you gave us one month, Travis would win. I
might lose, but I bet mine would be the cleanest and most even.
9. Are there any other cities you could see yourself living
in besides Minneapolis?
Other suburbs of the Twin Cities or St. Paul, or a larger
town in South Dakota perhaps. Actually I would really like to
experience St. Paul. If you get a job there, who knows? I have
always liked the dry heat of Arizona, so if we were going to do
a major relocation, Phoenix would be at the top of my list. Then
again, I am a big fan of rain, so Seattle would have to be
considered.
10. Do you think Sarah D will ever submit her interview for
RG.com?
I hope not. That interview is outdated and irrelevant now. I
would be willing to sit down and type out another for her if she
wanted though!
11. As a long-time blogger and website designer
extraordinaire, do you have any suggestions for my blog, "Anu to
the Rescue"?
I originally was confused what you were going for. Sometimes
you'd just post a picture or two, and other times you'd write an
entry. I think if you're going to post a random picture, you
should make it a feature like "Picture of the Day" or write
something to go along with it. As far as your writing goes,
you're very talented and I wouldn't change anything! I do miss
the occasional Yeah Buddy! Twins blog entry. You and Nicky
actually had a decent readership, right?
12. Guinness is the most amazing beer ever. It literally is
the beer that Jesus would drink, and that's a fact. Why don't
you like Guinness?
I just don't like the flavor. I am not a conformist; just
because everyone else might like it doesn't mean I'm going to
give in!
13. Why don't you like action movies? I love them!
I like action movies if they have a great storyline behind
them, which Dark Knight did. Most rely on crazy visual scenes
and witty one-liners. Plus, I like to watch movies about things
that I've been through or could potentially happen to me. It's
not that easy to relate to a movie about a superhero.
14. You've been a bike owner for almost 12 hours now. How
does it feel so far?
Even though I had to put it on a credit card, which I won't
be paying off for a long time, it feels very good to be a bike
owner! Now that I look back on it, I can't believe I didn't have
a bike through college or previous years in Minnesota. Our ride
today was lots of fun and I hope to do that very regularly! I
even think I will bring it along to work and go for rides over
break. It is one of the few forms of exercise I find enjoyable.
15. Could there be any circumstances that would convince you
to settle down in South Dakota?
I am really not against living in South Dakota as long as it
is in a city like Sioux Falls or Rapid City. I have grown very
accustomed to being able to go out and get whatever I want
within a few minutes. The only reasons I can think of where I
would move back to South Dakota are all for bad things, like if
a family member was very sick or something.
For the next ten questions, pick your favorite:
16. Chipotle, Baja Sol, or Qdoba.
I've never eaten at Baja Sol. Qdoba is good but I am just
more familiar with Chipotle.
17. Jimmy John's, Subway, or Quizno's
They are all good, actually. I could go to any of them and
find something I like. Jimmy John's is more for when I'm in a
hurry. I think Quizno's has some great new Baja chicken subs
that are way different than anything I can get at Subway, so
I'll pick Quizno's.
18. Na's, Tum Rup Thai, or Uptown Thai Chili (RIP)
Na's for sure. It's probably my favorite restaurant, period.
Many co-workers have said the same thing. I can always count on
Mike Laven to join me for the lunch buffet.
19. Jarrod, Roscoe, or Max?
No question, all three are excellent pets. I know Roscoe
best, but Max is old and wise. Again I'm lazy and Jarrod needs
little attention in his bowl above the sink, so he wins.
20. Coors Light, Miller Light or Bud Light?
Coors. The frosty brew liner cans are tough to beat. But I'm
not too picky among the three.
21. Talladega Nights, Zoolander or Old School?
Zoolander has the best rewatchability value which is huge.
I've only seen Talladega once, and Old School has lost its
charm.
22. CC Club or Mortimer's?
CC. It's got some history for me over the years. I've only
been to Mortimer's once, but it has potential to be the best
area bar for sports watching.
23. James Bond franchise, Batman franchise or Spider-Man
franchise?
You know I'm not crazy about any of the franchises, but
Batman is hot right now so it wins. Dark Knight was legitimately
a great movie.
24. Dennys Reyes, Brian Bass or Bobby Korecky?
If it was between the three of them with the game on the
line, I'll take Korecky. Reyes should be used strictly as a
lefty specialist and Bass should be designated for assignment
asap.
25. Popcorn, chips and salsa, or pretzels? These pretzels are
making me thirsty.
Depends on the situation, but popcorn would ultimately win
over. It is great at the bar, at a movie, at a sports event, or
at home.
26. I told you that I would pay for, and referee, an
all-you-can-eat eating contest between you and someone else for
your birthday. Who would you pick?
I would prefer it to be someone who could put up a
challenge, and none of my local friends could do that. Some
think Jason would put up a fight but I don't think he eats all
that much. Alex also proved to be poor competition after last
year's Thanksgiving battle. I would say Collin Manngold could
give me the best run for my money.
27. If you could pick the company that received the naming
rights to the new Twins ballpark, what would be your top
choices? Kramerica Park is not a valid response.
My first thought was Dick's Garage Field, but does Dad have
time for extra business that would be created from the
advertising? How about Jordan Krogman Photography Field.
28. Are there any Glanzer family secrets that I haven't been
let in on? I think I've told you all of the Poulter family
secrets.
Mom and Jason teamed up to deal drugs via local mailboxes a
couple years back and both made out pretty well financially.
Alex and Dad co-wrote a musical based on a popular Judy Blume
novel, but held out for too much money and it never got
produced. Um... Jordan was born with a wing but it was
amputated. And the barking of the ghost of Puppy still wakes us
up at night.
29. How much money do you think you would save each week if
you brought your lunch from home? I should start making you
lunches and sticking little loves notes in them.
Probably $25 a week. I try to keep lunch expenses to a
minimum except when I get a craving for Na's. It's not so much
that I'm against bringing in a lunch from home. It's more about
getting out of the building and getting some fresh air and
getting away for an hour.
30. If you had to give up either ice cream or beer for a
month, which would you pick? I honestly don't know which I would
have a harder time with.
Ha, ice cream is the easy choice. I don't eat that much ice
cream to begin with. While I do think I could go a month without
drinking, why would I want to?
31. Could you have imagined a few months ago that the Twins'
season would be going so well? They are in first place in the AL
Central!
Like most, I had no idea the Twins would be this good. It's
not their record that surprises me. If you would have told me
they'd be 14 games over .500 at some point this season, I'd have
believed it. I just would never have believed their AL Central
foes would be so bad. I thought the Tigers would win 100 games
and Cleveland would be right behind. I'm still a little
surprised to look at the standings and see both teams struggling
so bad. I think the Twins can hang on and win the division, but
it's all going to come down to that 14-game road trip at the end
of the month. If they can remain in the race through that tough
time, they'll be good to go.
32. I want to knit you something. What would you like me to
knit for you?
The only thing that I would like that could be knitted would
be a scarf for the winter. Regular clothes would be too big for
you to knit.
33. This question should be about Justin Morneau. What are
your thoughts on his beating Josh Hamilton in the Home Run
Derby? Where do you think he will finish in AL MVP voting in
2008?
I was very surprised that he won it, but disappointed that
all the attention still went to Hamilton. I think he has a very
good chance at MVP as long as the Twins win the division. No one
is really having a standout season in the AL besides Hamilton,
and the Rangers certainly aren't going to make the playoffs, and
in recent years the team's success seems to sway the voters
quite a bit.
34. Go with your first instinct: How many kids do you think
we will have, and what will their names be?
I would say for sure two, maybe three by accident. I imagine
both will be named after baseball legends or pioneers, male or
female. I liked Kenesaw (after the league's first commissioner,
Kenesaw Mountain Landis) until I read about what a racist he
was. But maybe if we make his middle name Branch (after Branch
Rickey, the owner who integrated the game) we can get away with
it.
35. After five-plus months of shackin' up together, how do
think it's going? Do you like living with me?
Of course I like living together! There really hasn't been a
single moment since we moved to this house where I regretted the
decision even for a minute. We have never had even a tiny fight
or disagreement. I certainly would be doing a lot of things a
lot differently if I were alone, or with just Nick, and those
things would all be negative things like not cleaning, so it's
all good. There were some friends who thought it was a bad
idea, but I am glad we did it! You are the best roommate ever!
36. On a scale of one to ten, how much does it bother you
that I refuse to watch "Freaks and Geeks" and other high
school-themed tv programs and movies? For this answer to be
valid, you have to stick to the scale of one to ten.
Honestly it does bother me a bit, maybe a 6 or 7. It's
mostly the fact that you go in with such negativity and don't
give any of these great shows a fair chance. Remember now, who
went to Sex and the City in the theater, and has sat through
several Bond movies! But if that's the worst of our problems,
I'd say we're doing alright. I think one day you will give in
and will see that at least Freaks and Geeks is as good as I
claim.
37. What are you afraid of?
Supernatural things like ghosts. I know they are real and
one day I'm gonna see one and totally freak out. Um... I'm
afraid of driving in wintry weather. I'm afraid of getting
caught in a lie. I'm a little afraid of someone breaking into
our house again but that cutout is doing a nice job protecting
the place from would-be robbers.
38. Are you surprised that you have turned me into a fan of
country music? I feel a little bit dirty just admitting that.
Yeah that did come as a little surprise, but country music
is another of those things where people don't give it much of a
chance. I think most people could find at least one or two
artists that they like. You had no choice but to give it a
chance, riding in cars with me over the last eight months. I'm
not as surprised that you wound up liking country as I am
surprised that you were willing to give it a try.
39. Everyone wants to know when we will be getting engaged
and married. What are your thoughts on a Poulanzer-Walshichetti
double wedding?
And by "everyone" do you mean "you?" I am a terrible keeper
of secrets, but I will not divulge any information to you or
anyone else at this time. Sorry! You will just have to wait it
out and see when the time comes! As far as a double wedding with
Walshichetti? Hmm... I think I would be okay with that actually.
My only concern is splitting up the bills on stuff! It could
turn into a war!
40. Thanks for letting me interview you, sweetie! Any last
remarks?
I am glad someone wrote me a real interview! As much fun as
answering 1000 questions from Jason is, and believe me it was
lots of fun, it is kind of therapeutic to think about some of
the more difficult questions. You are cute! And nice.
