Top 100 Movies of All-Time Countdown

The list for my top 100 movies was a lot more difficult to come up with than
my list of songs or TV shows.  There are a ton of really popular movies
I've neglected to see over the years, and a lot of obscure ones I have seen.
Hopefully I didn't forget any favorites, though that seems very likely.

MOVIES #61-80

ET: The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

Starring:
Henry Thomas
First Saw It: Saw it before the age of 10 and scared me.  Watched it in full later.
Memorable Moment: The kids on the bicycles flying through the sky with ET in the basket.
62
Big (1988)
Starring:
Tom Hanks
First Saw It: It wasn't too long after it came out... maybe in 1990 we rented it.
Memorable Moment: Of course Josh playing the gigantic piano in the toy store.
63
Ghost World (2001)
Starring:
Steve Buscemi, Thora Birch, Scarlett Johanson
First Saw It: Jason had it on DVD in Madison.
Memorable Moment:
I don't get the title.  It isn't a scary movie. Enid plays a prank on a middle-aged geek.
64
Lost in Translation (2003)

Starring:
Bill Murray, Scarlett Johanson
First Saw It: Rented it in Madison.
Memorable Moment: How virtually nothing happens in the movie, and wondering what Bill Murray whispered at the end of it.
65
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Starring:
Gene Wilder
First Saw It: I think I saw it on TV in Doland in the early 90s.
Memorable Moment:
Augustus Gloop getting stuck in the pipe.  Or the bizarre scenes of Willy Wonka driving that boat very fast through the tunnel.
66
Citizen Kane (1941)
Starring:
Orson Welles
First Saw It: Rented it in Madison.
Memorable Moment:
The snow globe scene, because The Simpsons spoof of it finally made sense.
67
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Starring:
Will Smith
First Saw It: Eden Prairie theater on New Years Day 2007 with the LaPlants.
Memorable Moment:
Will Smith's best performance ever, in my opinion.
68
American History X (1998)
Starring:
Edward Norton
First Saw It: At the house in Madison.
Memorable Moment:
There was one of the most disgusting scenes I've ever seen with the people "biting" the curb.
69
Armageddon (1998)
Starring:
Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Steve Buscemi
First Saw It: In the Bryant theater with Kathy, Jesse, and Brandon.
Memorable Moment: The black biker dude being tracked down in Kadoka, South Dakota.
70
Signs (2002)
Starring:
Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix
First Saw It: In the theater somewhere... I'm thinking Madison.
Memorable Moment:
The first signs of aliens out in the corn field.  Scared the hell out of me.
71
Stand by Me (1986)
Starring:
River Phoenix, Corey Feldman
First Saw It: At Andrew Graham's house in 1993 or so.
Memorable Moment:
The train track scene where the boys are halfway across and the train starts bearing down on them.
72
Reno 911: Miami (2007)
Starring:
Cedric Yarbrough, Thomas Lennon
First Saw It: In the Eden Prairie theater at 10am on a Sunday morning with Jason and Patrick.
Memorable Moment:
It was a stupid, off-the-wall, unbelievable premise, which I usually hate.  But it was funny enough to make up for all that.
73
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Starring:
Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor
First Saw It: A Chris Ahrendt favorite which I borrowed on DVD.
Memorable Moment:
I remember being very surprised at Ewan McGregor's singing ability.
74
The Usual Suspects (1995)
Starring:
Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro
First Saw It: Chris Ahrendt maybe had this.  He recommended it to me anyway.
Memorable Moment:
The bizarre ending.  I can't give out that big of a spoiler but it is a huge, unforeseen twist.
75
Heavy Weights (1995)
Starring:
Ben Stiller, Aaron Schwartz
First Saw It: Huron theater with Mom, Jordan, and Alex.
Memorable Moment:
Ben Stiller was hysterical as Tony Perkis.  It was just like the real-life Brian Sumption.
76
Spy Hard (1996)
Starring:
Leslie Nielsen
First Saw It: Willow Lake School... must have been for some Christmas party or something.
Memorable Moment:
Another of Leslie Nielsen's ridiculous spoof movies with  Andy Griffith as the armless villain.  Very stupid movie but I like a good Nielsen flick.
77
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Starring:
Judy Garland
First Saw It: It was on CBS in the late 80s probably.
Memorable Moment:
The flying monkeys scene scared the crap out of me.
78
Twister (1996)

Starring:
Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt
First Saw It: Huron theater with the family.
Memorable Moment:
The various tornadoes put me on the edge of my seat.  The cow getting swept up in the air was memorable.
79
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Starring:
Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore
First Saw It: Huron theater.  Maybe the last movie I saw with the whole family in the theater.
Memorable Moment:
All the other kids in the family were already killed in combat, so they gotta get the last living one out of there for the mom's sake.
80
The Cable Guy (1996)
Starring:
Jim Carrey, Matthew Broderick
First Saw It: The first time I rented it, I turned it off because I hated it so much.  But the second time (2000 or so) I thought it was hilarious.
Memorable Moment:
The Jack Black basketball dunk scene, or the karaoke party.
