Top 100 Movies of All-Time Countdown

The list for my top 100 movies was a lot more difficult to come up with than
my list of songs or TV shows.  There are a ton of really popular movies
I've neglected to see over the years, and a lot of obscure ones I have seen.
Hopefully I didn't forget any favorites, though that seems very likely.

MOVIES #81-100
May 22, 2007
81
Amadeus (1984)

Starring:
F. Murray Abraham
First Saw It: Sometime in junior high, Mr. Ehrke had us watch this during band.
Memorable Moment: The mass burials of the people of that era.  They were all just dumped into a big hole in the ground.  Wait... Is that the right movie I'm thinking of?
82
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Starring:
Mike Myers
First Saw It: On one of those free trial Showtime weekends, maybe 1998
Memorable Moment: The whole scene with the FemBots firing at Austin as he combats them to the tune of "I Touch Myself."
83
American Pie (1999)

Starring:
Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy
First Saw It: In the Huron theater with my free movie passes from KOKK
Memorable Moment: Eugene Levy was at his finest, having a terribly awkward conversation with his son about masturbation.
84
Mean Girls (2004)

Starring:
Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams
First Saw It: Jason bought the DVD when we lived at 912 in Madison
Memorable Moment:
There are a lot of memorable moments.  I guess when you can look at Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and even Tina Fey for two hours, that's all that matters.
85
Zoolander (2001)
Starring:
Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell
First Saw It: Not really sure... maybe when TBS first aired it.
Memorable Moment:
"Wake Me Up Before You Go" playing as Derek Zoolander and the other models frolick at the gas pumps, dousing each other with gasoline.
86
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Starring:
Jim Carrey
First Saw It: Huron theater with Guy LaMont
Memorable Moment:
Without question, the Grinch in the gunny sack race.  Laughed my ass off during that scene.
87
Bottle Rocket (1996)
Starring:
Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson
First Saw It: On DVD over Christmas in 2004, I believe.
Memorable Moment:
Robbing the library.  Of all places to rob, they picked a library.
88
The Aviator (2005)
Starring:
Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett
First Saw It: Madison theater at dollar movie night in 2005 with Chris Ahrendt
Memorable Moment:
Howard Hughes gone completely mad, collecting jars of his own urine.
89
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
Starring:
Gene Hackman
First Saw It: Bought the DVD in the summer of 2002, having no idea what the movie was about.  I watched it alone in the Valleyfair Dorms.
Memorable Moment: Bill Murray, when asked if the boy could tell time.  "Oh dear God no."
90
Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
Starring:
Will Ferrell
First Saw It: A few weeks ago on DVD while lying in bed
Memorable Moment:
The fact that Will Ferrell played a semi-serious role to some acclaim.
91
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Starring:
Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal
First Saw It: Alone at the Eden Prairie theater... I mean all alone.  I was the only one there.
Memorable Moment:
First thing that comes to mind is the obvious gay scene...
92
Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
Starring:
Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan
First Saw It: On TNT just before Valentine's Day in 2005.  Saw that and You've Got Mail back-to-back.
Memorable Moment:
The little boy bringing them together.  Romantic classic.
93
Walk the Line (2005)
Starring:
Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon
First Saw It: Five days ago, on DVD.
Memorable Moment:
Johnny Cash playing "Ring of Fire" for the first time to the record producer.
94
Diggers (2006)
Starring:
Paul Rudd
First Saw It: Same day as Walk the Line.
Memorable Moment:
When the two fights converge.  No spoilers.  I want everyone to watch this movie themselves.
95
City of God (2002)
Starring:
Alexandre Rodrigues
First Saw It: At Patrick's place a year or two ago... It's at least 90 spots higher on Jason's list.
Memorable Moment:
I don't remember the details too well... Probably the overall amount of pointless violence in South America.
96
The Life Aquatic (2004)
Starring:
Owen Wilson, Bill Murray
First Saw It: In the Sioux Falls theater with Jason right after Christmas 2004.
Memorable Moment:
Everything Bill Murray does is comedic genius.  That, and I have trouble remembering the details.
97
Fast Food Nation (2006)
Starring:
Greg Kinnear
First Saw It: Edina theater last fall with Jason, Jeff, and Patrick
Memorable Moment:
The gruesome meat packing plant scenes and the Mexican girl's reaction to the horrific place.
98
Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

Starring:
Bruce Campbell
First Saw It: The same day as Mean Girls.
Memorable Moment:
Just how this movie's premise looked so stupid... old folks in the home who think they're Elvis and JFK, and they're being attacked by a mummy or something.  But it was actually a very good movie.
99
Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
Starring:
Ryan Phillippe, Adam Beach
First Saw It: Eden Prairie theater with Patrick.  I saw Mike Simmons there too.
Memorable Moment:
Ira on the tour, getting so drunk at all the big stops.
100
Remember the Titans (2000)
Starring:
Denzel Washington
First Saw It: Huron theater with Guy LaMont.
Memorable Moment:
The big song scene in the lunch room that brought everyone together initially.
